Maud Lewis in her small, brightly-painted house in Marshalltown, Nova Scotia, where she lived with her husband Everett from 1938 until her death in 1970.
Maud Lewis
(1901 – 1970)
Maud Lewis is the most famous of the Canadian folk artists, and her works now sell both nationally and internationally for large sums. The story of the diminutive artist, painting in her tiny house by the road in Digby County, has been chronicled in numerous books, articles, documentaries and now a full-length feature film. We are offering several works painted in the 1960s by the artist. Lobster Boats at Wharf is a rare subject for Maud, who often painted many versions of her other popular scenes.
