Artist Bio: Ruth Wainwright (1902-1984)
Ruth Wainwright was born in North Sydney and was educated at the Halifax Ladies College, where she studied under both Edith and Lewis Smith. She was also interested in music and graduated from the Halifax Conservatory of Music with a diploma in the concert harp. Ruth played the harp professionally as a member of the local CBC orchestra until the outbreak of the Second World War. Later, Ruth was primarily known as a painter in a variety of media, including oil, pastel, and watercolour.
