Yong Zhong Liu

Artist Bio: Yong Zhong Lui (b. 1975)

Lui lives near the town of Baoji on the Yellow River in an area South West of Beijing. He had been interested in art as a child but has worked mainly as a carpenter. Lui has developed a reputation in that part of China for doing paintings of the traditional lifestyle in the rural villages. It is a way of life that is disappearing in the face of the onslaught of industrialization. Many of the rural villages are being absorbed by nearby towns to form new cities and Yong Zhong Lui is trying to capture on paper something of the traditional rural lifestyle before it has disappeared completely.
