Artist Bio: Ted Bartram, RCA, OSA
Edward John (Ted) Bartram was born in London, Ontario in 1938. He studied art at both the University of Western Ontario and the University of Toronto. Bartram then studied printmaking at the Ontario College of Art and is now mainly known for his etchings.
Ted Bartram has studied and made prints of the rocks that occur in the Canadian Shield. He has an uncanny ability to emulate the appearance and texture of pre-Cambrian rock, which is a symbol of the endurance in pre-history that is rooted in the Canadian psyche.
In addition to his extensive work on the rocks that surround Georgian Bay, Bartram has also depicted the ancient rock formations that occur along the Atlantic Coast of Nova Scotia.
