Thomas Garside

Artist Bio: Thomas H. Garside (1906-1980)

Born at Dukinfield, England, he arrived in Canada in 1914 and later studied at the Monument National, nights, under Edmond Dyonnet and Adam Sheriff Scott also at the Montreal Art Association under Paul Caron and W.H. Taylor. His subjects have included scenes from the Laurentian region; Baie St. Paul; Cape Cod; Murray Bay; Newfoundland and the Eastern Townships. He held an exhibition at the Stevens Art Gallery (1945), Continental Galleries (1949) (1955), and exhibitions of the Royal Canadian Academy, the Ontario Society of Artists and at the annual Spring Show of the Art Association of Montreal. Garside was an associate of the Royal Canadian Academy (1945) and lived in Westmount, Quebec.
