Anna T. Noeh

Artist Bio: Anna T. Noeh (b. 1926)

Anna Noeh was born in Hungary, Budapest in 1926. She studied drawing, painting, mosaic and mural painting techniques at the Academy of Applied Arts in Budapest (1952-19560. She studied for one year at the Vienna Academy of Fine Arts through a grant she obtained from the Rockefeller Foundation.ÊHer medium for which she is most known for is mixed media painting.

She immigrated to Canada in 1957 and settled into Montreal. She exhibited mural works at the Montreal World Fair in 1967. She is known for painting subjects of the North, particularly Baffin Island, and visited the Canadian Arctic on almost a dozen trips since 1970. 1970 is also the year she started exhibiting her first paintings on Inuit life. Since then she has been exhibited in art galleries and museums across Canada.
