Walter F. Stocks

Artist Bio: Walter Fryer Stocks (1842-1915)

Walter Stocks was a well-known painter of landscapes, architectural subjects, and still-lifes. He studied at King’s College, London, and at the Royal Academy School. In 1862, he exhibited his first work at the Royal Academy when he continued to exhibit annually for the next 30 years. He also exhibited widely, including at the Dudley Gallery (14 works), the Royal Watercolour Society and the Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolour (21 works), the Wallace Gallery in Liverpool (12 works) and the Royal Scottish Academy (38 works).
