Charles Sim Mottram

Artist Bio: Charles Sim Mottram, RBA (1852-1919)

Charles S. Mottram was born in Rotherham, Yorkshire. He began his artistic career in London as a young man and then later moved to St. Ives, Cornwall in 1901 with his wife and young son, where he would spend the remaining of his artistic career.

He had been exhibiting Cornish subjects from the late 1880’s and exhibited one of his works at the Whitechapel Exhibition of 1902. He is known mostly for painting in the genre of landscapes and coastal seascapes.
