Ronald Okey

Artist Bio: Ronald Okey (b. 1921)

Ron Okey, was born in Northampton, England in 1921 where his early promise as an artist was recognized with a scholarship to the Northampton School of Art. This study of art was interrupted at the age of 18 when he joined the Royal Air Force and served in the Middle East, Italy and Europe until discharged in 1946. In 1949, he emigrated to Canada where he was employed in advertising art in Toronto and Colorado Springs, U.S.A. until 1954 when he transferred to the administrative side of advertising. In 1957 he began his study of fine art and by 1963 was elected a member of the Ontario Institute of Painters. His technique is straightforward, using both brushes and pallet knives. His work is now represented in private collections from coast to coast in Canada, England, Scotland, and many parts of the United States.
