Carol Hoorn Fraser

Artist Bio: Carol Hoorn Fraser (1930-1991)

Carol Fraser was born in Wisconsin. She studied Biology at the Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter’s, Minnesota, and later obtained an MFA in Painting at the University of Minnesota. Carol came to Halifax in 1961 and soon became an important part of the art community in Eastern Canada. She exhibited widely in both Canada and the United States and received a number of major awards. Her work is in many important collections in Canada and the United States.

“Window Plants” is a major work from the 1970s and reflects the artist’s deep interest in plants and in her garden.
