Charles E. Brittan lived in Devon, UK, and was a very highly regarded landscape painter, particularly of Dartmoor but also Cornwall, Exmoor, and Scotland. His works especially showed an intimate knowledge and fine detail of the local wildflower, fauna, and sprawling landscape of Dartmoor. His work was popular with members of the Royal Family, as his Dartmoor landscapes were purchased by Queen Mary and the Duke of Windsor.
