Artist Bio: Don Besco
Donald Besco is a Canadian Postwar & Contemporary painter who was born in 1941. Besco was born in and raised in Toronto, ON, in the neighborhood of Cabbagetown. He attended Central Technical School where he studied under Doris McCarthy and Charles Goldhammer. Graduating in 1958, he spent his career working as an illustrator and designer in Toronto, and retired in 1989 to paint full-time.
Besco works in a variety of media, including watercolour and pastel, but predominantly works in oil – particularly en-plein-air of the Canadian landscape and urban views. Besco’s work can be found in private collections throughout Canada and internationally.
