Raymond Martin

Artist Bio: Raymond Martin

Raymond Martin is an important artist based in Moncton, New Brunswick. He was born in the Lac St. Jean area in Quebec in 1958, and later re-located to Moncton where he now works. Raymond has an interesting background, having studied psychology at both the Universities of Ottawa, and Moncton where he obtained his Master’s Degree. He divides his time between practice as a child psychologist and an artist.

In his essay The Enchanted Vision of Raymond Martin, Terry Graff noted that Martin’s compassionate paintings celebrate our place in the cosmos, the sense of our complete interdependence in the larger scheme of things. For Martin the way of the world is… based on co-operation in community, on establishing relationships within the web of life…”.

Martin’s work is included in a number of important public collections, including Canada Council Art Bank, Foreign Affairs Canada, the New Brunswick Art Bank, the University of New Brunswick, L’université de Moncton, the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia and the Beaverbrook Art Gallery.
