Artist Bio: Kelsey Raymond (1926-2001)
Kelsey Raymond was interested in art as a child and attended Acadia University after graduation from Horton Academy in Wolfville. He served in the Royal Canadian Navy in the Second World War and following that service he went to New York to study at the National Academy of Design and at the Art Student’s League. He later attended Mount Allison University. Raymond settled in Smith’s Cove on the Bay of Fundy and spent many years painting the way of life along the Fundy Shore in Nova Scotia, especially around Smith’s Cove. He was an avid sailor and his feeling for the sea infuses his painting.
